Minerals And Mining (Health, Safety And Technical Regulations, 2012) (L.I. 2182)Regulation 100A manager shall ensure that a worker(a) does not ride on a conveyor belt; or(b) except as provided in sub-regulation (2), does not cross a conveyor belt that has not been locked out.(2) A worker may cross a conveyor belt on a walkway that(a) has guardrails; and(b) is at least six hundred millimetres wide.(3) Where a worker is at risk of being caught in a pinch point at the head, tail, drive or tension pulleys of a conveyor belt in a mine, the manager of the mine shall ensure that(a) the pinch point is protected by an effective safeguard; and(b) the safeguard extends at least one metre beyond the pinch point.(4) A manager shall ensure that a conveyor belt in the mine is equipped with a belt-slip detection device designed to stop the drive motor in the case of belt blockage or belt slippage.(5) Where an elevated conveyor belt in the mine crosses over a place where a person is likely to pass or work, the manager of the mine shall ensure that suitable precautions are taken to prevent materials on the conveyor belt from falling on that person. |
