Minerals And Mining (Health, Safety And Technical Regulations, 2012) (L.I. 2182)Regulation 174(1) A manager of a mine shall ensure that in the mine(a) where the natural strata are not safe, each working or pumping shaft, and travelling way, airway or working place is (i) securely supported,(ii) filled,(iii) walled up or otherwise made secure, and(iv) kept in a safe condition as long as that shaft is in actual use;(b) that a person who is not appointed for the purpose of inspecting or repairing, does not travel or work in that shaft or underground working until that shaft or underground working is made secure; and(c) ground which is known to be dangerous is not left unattended unless that ground is properly secured, made safe or fenced off.(2) The manager of the mine shall without limiting paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (1), ensure that in the mine sufficient reserve of suitable ground support material is provided conveniently for supporting the excavation. |
