Regulation 22    For the purpose of these Regulations, a shipowner shall ensure that(a)        sleeping rooms and mess rooms in the ship are adequately ventilated;(b)        the ship is equipped with air conditioning for(i)        seafarer accommodation,(ii)        any separate radio room, and(iii)        any centralised machinery control room, except where the ship is regularly engaged in trade in temperate climatic conditions which do not require air conditioning;(c)        sanitary spaces have ventilation to the open air, independently of any other part of the accommodation; and(d)        adequate heat through an appropriate heating system is provided, unless in the case of a ship which is exclusively on voyage in tropical climates.
