Ghana Shipping (Maritime Labour) Regulations, 2015 (L.I. 2226)Regulation 24(1) For the purpose of these Regulations, a shipowner shall ensure that(a) a seafarer has convenient access, on the ship, to sanitary facilities meeting minimum standards of health and hygiene and reasonable standards of comfort, with separate sanitary facilities for men and women;(b) there are sanitary facilities within easy access of the navigating bridge and the machinery space or near the engine room control centre;(c) a minimum of one toilet, one wash basin and one tub or shower or both for every six persons or less who do not have personal facilities is provided at a convenient location in the ship;(d) with the exception of a passenger ship, each sleeping room is provided with a washbasin having hot and cold running fresh water, except where the washbasin is situated in a private bathroom; and(e) hot and cold running fresh water is available in all wash places.(2) The Authority may approve special arrangements or a reduction in the number of facilities required in a passenger ship normally engaged on voyages of not more than four hours duration. |
