Notwithstanding an insurance institutions internal policies relating to customer confidentiality and particularly in accordance with the provisions in the Insurance Act, 2006 (Act 724) and the AML Act, 2008 (Act 749) as amended by (Act 874), competent authorities shall have access to information in order to perform their functions in combating money laundering and financing of terrorism; the sharing of information between competent authorities, either domestically or internationally; and the sharing of information between insurance institutions, where this is required or necessary.
